I'm not a metal head either but I love ACDC.

My son was in a metal band. 'm so glad I never understood the lyrics due to the screaming. If I knew what he was singing, I would have NEVER let them practice in my house. LOL

That is pretty bad, but not because of the language. It seems to be almost a satire. Horrible musicianship.
It's like it is outrageous just for the sake of being outrageous.

I've never heard this particular Metallica song. Do you know the background? Was James Hetfield having girlfriend angst?

Scott, I really would be interested in your favorites and others as well. You can tell that my list was of earlier material. I've missed out on a lot of the recent Metal scene. Damn depression saps all the fun out of life. Surprised

ETA: I feel the same, Nancy. The song sounded like no real thought was put into it except to send a message to a certain somebody.

I've heard of a lot of the bands you listed. Others are completely new to me. I'm so excited because I love new music (new to me, that is).

I don't consider myself a true Metal Head either. I enjoy all genre's of music. But, I do believe my roots are firmly planted in The Beatles and heavier rock.

Metallica covered the song from an early 80's british punk band called "the anti-nowhere league" it's on the 1998 "Garage Inc" cd

I like this song as well. The lyrics are...lets just say very relevant to me:

Then you crawl back in
Into your obsession
Never to return
This is your confession

Two of my favorite Metallica songs are:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYUMPKFYd6g I will never get enough of this song. <33333

Ozzy has such a distinctive sound. LOL.

I agree with you about words to live by on most counts. Live your life, have faith in yourself and don't push your beliefs on someone else. Although, I do have my own spiritual beliefs and I try never to impose them on others.
