I think Hendrick and Jr's sponsors have had enough. They had an in-car camera shot of Jr during the Coke 600 and he just could not turn the car. (The in car of Kyle Busch looked like someone cruising down I-5 on a Sunday drive) Hendrick has the best chassis program in the biz, let alone the notes from the 48 - 5 and 24 teams. When Jr jumped into the 5 car a couple of years ago after Busch wrecked it and decided to go home, Jr was turning equal lap times to Busch with a damaged car. Jr can drive!

Their moving Eury Jr. to a R&D Position within the company. Brian Whitsell was Jeff Gordon's Interim Crew Chief When Evernham left in 99. He's been with those teams a long time.

I hope and truly feel, that only good will come from this change. I feel bad for Junior. He's a good driver, as Was stated, and he's gotten a lot of tough knocks. He is Dale, JUNIOR. Senior was am accomplished driver, but he was also a dirty driver. Shutting my trap now

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=4212623New crew chief eyes full reviewBy Marty Smith ESPN.com Lance McGrew, the man charged with turning Dale Earnhardt Jr.'sdisastrous season around, didn't mince words Thursday when discussing his prospects and plans in replacing Tony Eury, Jr. as crew chief of the No. 88 Chevrolet. "Everything and everybody will be evaluated," McGrew told ESPN.com Thursday. There is some thought within the sport that Eury and Earnhardt employed a different preparatory approach than that used by the other three Hendrick Motorsports teams. McGrew lent credence to that thought. "I just believe there were some theories that they were using to making decisions by, that weren't necessarily the same theory that's on the rest of the complex," McGrew said. "The idea of having a multiple-car team is you can lean on your teammates. And you have to be within the same page to get any information. A lot of times they were not on the same page."Among the first items to be evaluated, McGrew said, are the No. 88 team's personnel and its relationship with the No. 5 team of Mark Martin. The No. 88 and No. 5 teams are housed in the same building at Hendrick Motorsports. But according to McGrew, they haven't been a unified program like Jeff Gordon's No. 24 and Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 teams, which also share a building.

If they can get the 88's setups corrected, Dale jr will take it from there. It may take several races to pull it together, but I can't wait to see what happens now at Daytona in July (Pepsi 400? ) I love the night race at Daytona....

YES! Sounds like NASCAR is seriously considering double file restarts of leaders, not lapped cars. I think its awesome! Lucky dog will keep the race interesting at the back of the field and double files will keep the race interesting up front! Oh please NASCAR do it SOON! There is a bunch of Media articles about this....check out Jayskis_________________ Moderator 2.5 And that's the way it is.~ Walter Cronkite I was so much older then, I am younger than that now~ Bob DylanHope is a waking dream. - Aristotle

Jr can definitely drive. I sure hope this new crew chief can get him some long overdue wins.
Jr is the most popular driver but also the driver with most eyes on him and some critics that will never think he has earned his place.
I hope things work out for his team so Jr can finally get some enjoyment out of a sport he loves so much. |
