He grew up in Palos Verdes and they moved to Huntington Beach when he was in is mid-teens. It's possible. Now he is playing for Columbus Crew (ohio) so he is having to adapt to the midwest weather and culture. Luckily he is used to that, because we all grew up (My brother- his dad, sister and I) in Michigan.

Robbie Rogers MLS player of week

Midfielder Robbie Rogers of the Columbus Crew was named the Major League Soccer player of week on Monday.

Rogers scored twice to lead Columbus to a come-from-behind win over San Jose last week. The 20-year-old American has five goals on the season, tied for second in the league.

Rogers and the Crew will visit Toronto FC on Saturday (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 p.m. ET).

The Week 7 player of the week was the second Crew member to receive the honour this year. Guillermo Barros Schelotto was the choice for Week 3.

Columbus leads the Eastern Conference with a 6-1 record. The Crew beat Toronto FC 2-0 in the first game of the season for both clubs in late March.

Rogers previously played in the Netherlands before joining Columbus and was a member of the United States squad at the under-20 World Cup in Canada in 2007

Thanks- it looks they might be sending him to China to train for the Olympics. Will see. He is doing so well playing for the US it might be better to leave him be. He could do the next Olympics he only turned 21 yesterday. Will see.

I know. It is really amazing. I was just over at the Big Soccer website reading about the Olympic Team and they are still speculating and arguing. Last week he played against David Beckam and they tied. All of the posters on the Soccer boards seem to agree that if Robbie isn't on the Olympic Team then the coach is an idiot. I don't know a whole lot about soccer, but I can't help wondering if his Crew coach is trying to keep him out of the Olympics so that they don't loose him as a player. I have no idea. Robbie gets mad at us for meddling around the soccer boards. Doesn't help that my username is Proud Aunt. LOL
