Top 20 Dancers In past seasons of So You Think You Can Dance, the Fox reality series usually fell short in the personality department. This season, the group of 20 dancers brings a new level of charisma to the stage. Now that the top 20 has been revealed, it's time to get to know them a little better. Who's the closet singer? Who fears the newest permanent judge, Adam Shankman? ... MEET THE TOP 10 GALS Channing Cooke, 18, is a contemporary dancer from Haverhill, Mass. She's also an ice cream scooper. Vroom Vroom: "I'm a very big tomboy, but very girlie girl at the same time. I love race cars. I love driving fast, but never got a speeding ticket." Ariana Debose, 18, is a contemporary dancer from Raleigh, N.C. Feared Judge: "During Vegas week I was a little scared of Adam because at one point he told me, 'Your cha-cha is just a little unfortunate.' It's OK because it was unfortunate." Ashleigh DiLello, 26, is a ballroom dancer from Springville, Utah. She's married to Ryan DiLello, who's also in the top 20. No Hubby Woes: "I've gotten a new appreciation for Ryan. Usually I'm dancing with him [and] I don't get to see him. He might be doing some intimate dance with another girl, but I take him home at night. You can do that, but that's my man." Mollee Gray, 18, is a jazz dancer from Upland, Calif. Hearing Schmering: "I'm actually deaf in my left ear. ... They wanted to give me a hearing aid. When I tested it out, it threw off my balance because I could hear so much more, so I will not get a hearing aid because it will throw off the way I dance." Karen Hauer, 27, is an American-rhythm dancer from Fort Lee, N.J. Forget Sexy: "I don't dance sexy. It's not about showing how sexy you can be -- that's for amateurs. It's showing passion, it's not just the hips moving to entice somebody, but to really capture somebody's feelings and capture somebody's heart." Noelle Marsh, 18, is a contemporary dancer from Sanford, N.C. Speak Easy: "I view my dancing as speaking. I just want to be able to speak through movement and create not even just a voice through it, but also a feeling." Pauline Mata, 18, is a contemporary dancer from West Covina, Calif. Dance Do-Over: "Actually, I came in last season as a contemporary dancer, which was a bad idea because I didn't train in contemporary for a long time." Kathryn McCormick, 18, is a contemporary and lyrical dancer from Burbank, Calif. Hold it in: "Every time I go on stage I almost pee my pants. I'm so excited and ready, but oh my gosh, all these lights and people. Once I'm on stage it's gone, but at first it's bad. I'll go like 20 times before." Bianca Revels, 20, is a tap dancer from Detroit. She battled Ryan Kasperzak during auditions, who didn't make it to the Top 20. Lock Your Doors, Dancers: "I sleepwalk ... and in Vegas I had this new girl {as a roommate} and she said that I walked to her bed and was looking at her, so my eyes were actually open. She said my name and asked if I was OK and I told her I loved her. ... That's a good way to meet people." Ellenore Scott, 19, is a contemporary dancer from New York. Bringing Fun Back: "I want to show them that I have technique, but I've never seen a girl on the show try to do humorous things. I want to show America that you can be funny and goofy too and still be beautiful and pretty." MEET THE TOP 10 GUYS Phillip Attmore, 25, is a tap dancer from Los Angeles. Sleepy Time: "I'm not clinically, but I'm a little bit, narcoleptic. I have so many pictures that people have taken of me asleep. The worst place that I've ever fallen asleep is when I was talking to my high school sweetheart on the phone." Billy Bell, 19, is a contemporary dancer from Palm Beach, Fla. He made Adam Shankman cry during Vegas auditions. Grocery Guru: "I have this obsession with grocery shopping. I love to grocery shop. I have no idea why it is the most fun thing to me." Ryan DiLello, 28, is a ballroom dancer from Springville, Utah. He's married to Ashleigh DiLello, who's also in the top 20. Married Duo: "This is a competition, but we have to compete against each other and when we go home at night, we're going to talk about, 'No, I'm going to pass you up this week.' I think everyone else needs to watch out because we're going to be trying extra hard." Russell Ferguson, 20, is a hip-hop and krump dancer from Boston. Spiritual Dancer: "I auditioned because I felt like it was a calling. I'm very spiritual in a sense. Sitting back at home trying to help my crew and everybody, we're trying to spread a message out there. I felt like it was definitely a calling from God to be here, to deliver a message." Kevin "K'Bez" Hunte, 23, is a hip-hop dancer from New York. Interesting Dance Practice: "I actually like to be in a dark room by myself and just freestyle and try to feel my way around and not hit anything in the dark." Jakob Karr, 19, is a contemporary dancer from Orlando, Fla. Seeing Double: "There's one guy [in the competition] that's very similar to me. His name is Billy Bell. We live in the same building and we're friends. We're just very similar with what we can do with our bodies. We dance differently, but we're both flexible and we're both whacked out, so I think he's my competition." Jonathan "Legacy" Perez, 28, is a hip-hop dancer and B-Boy from Los Angeles. Reach for the Stars: "I auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 because I wanted to reach out to the kids that are less fortunate around the United States and the world and whoever is exposed to this show and let them know that you don't really have to be a trained dancer. If you have a goal you can go for it and reach for the stars." Peter Sabasino, 22, is a tap dancer from Philadelphia. Fancy Nickname: "Not only am I a tap dancer, but I'm a B-Boy at the same time. Actually my B-Boy name used to be Bo Jangles." Victor Smalley, 20, is a contemporary dancer from Miami. Shower Soprano: "I really had dreams of being on American Idol, but I realized that I can't sing at all." Nathan Trasoras, 18, is a contemporary dancer from Downey, Calif. He auditioned in season 5, but was not old enough. Unnatural Talent: "I wasn't born to be a dancer, and I feel like if I was born to be a dancer, I wouldn't be here. My mindset would be completely different. If you're a natural at something, you tend to not work for it. The fact that I wasn't a natural, I worked for it every year."

| Two SYTYCD Dancers Unable to Perform on Tonight's ShowThe reality dance show curse has struck again! As So You Think You Can Dance is set to air its first Top 20 performance round Tuesday night, Usmagazine.com has learned that two dancers will be sitting out the round. Billy Bell, the contemporary dancer whose New Orleans audition brought new judge Adam Shankman to tears, dropped out of the show due to an illness Us has learned is mononucleosis. He will be replaced by hip-hop dancer Brandon Dumlao. Meet the show's Top 20 dancers! In a statement released Monday, SYTYCD executive producer Nigel Lythgoe did not elaborate on the nature of Bell's illness, but wished the Julliard-trained 19-year-old well. "We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery," Lythgoe said. "However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return." See the day's top celeb news photos.Fans were able to see Bell perform Monday in a pre-taped, non-elimination round that also featured Noelle Marsh, who may have danced for the last time on the SYTYCD stage. A source tells Us that Marsh will not be competing tonight after suffering an ankle injury that could sideline her for the duration of the competition. Revisit other cursed reality shows.Marsh, an 18-year-old contemporary dancer, will be given one week to try and recuperate, according to the network's standards and practices laws. The source tells Us that production crews will prep the female dancer who gets eliminated this week to go on in her place should she not be able to recover. _________________ I'll have what she's having.

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b151070_you_think_you_can_dance_one_day_youre.htmlThis reality-contestant merry-go-round is dizzying. Can we get off? Thanks to baseball playoffs wreaking havoc on Fox's schedule, So You Think You Can Dance is all mixed up this season. Usually the two-hour competition episode would air on Tuesday, fans would vote overnight and an elimination episode would air Wednesday, but until the World Series is done, competition and elimination happens on the same night, and there's no fan voting. The judges decide amongst themselves who's going home. Here's what happened during tonight's Top 20 competition, complete with pairings, dances and the identities of the two eliminees who got the full Cat Deeley precious-darling treatment on the way out: Philip & Channing performed a Jason Gilkison-choreographed jive that was capable and full of cuteness, but a little sitiff on the flips. Judge Adam Shankman said it was a "classy pairing," but judge Nigel Lythgoe wanted to see more chemistry between the two going forward. Ashley & Jakob performed a Tyce Diorio-choreographed Broadway number. (The song, "Hit Me With a Hot Note," was the same one that Katie Holmes danced to on Eli Stone a while back.) It looked like Jakob was doing his own dance, showing off and totally disconnected from Ashley. The judges drooled all over Jakob, whom they consider brilliant, while Adam Shankman (who actually has something constructive to say most of the time) suggested that Ashley work on how she used her hands. Ariana & Peter performed a NappyTabs-choreographed hip-hop that seemed cute and well-danced, but not brilliant. (Ariana was so bootylicious in those gold pants!) Adam Shankman told them to "work on the similarity of your musicality," and then launched into a silly Lil C riff, saying they should also work on the "veracity of [their] tenacity." (Ha!) Noelle & Russell were going to perform a Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin foxtrot, but then Noelle did something drastically terrible to her knee, so Russell danced the number with choreographer Melanie LaPatin instead. Poor, pretty, partnerless Russell! He looked soooo good in that suit, and was so courtly with his partner. Who else just found a new SYTYCD boyfriend? Bianca & Victor performed a Travis Wall-choreographed contemporary that seemed sophisticated and well-danced. We are in awe of the abdominal strength needed for Bianca to sustain that one hold-and-drop move. Damn. Adam Shankman said that Bianca needed to "finish" her toes and keep her shoulders down, and Nigel Lythgoe said they were the "most connected between partners" of any couple so far. Karen & Kevin performed a Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin-choreographed cha-cha to the Glee cast's verison of "Push It." Sadly, the music, the outfits and the dance seemed mismatched. Adam Shankman was very admiring of Karen's body and sexy Latin-dance hips, and then joked, "And for those of you that know me, that's not really my thing, so…" Judge Mary Murphy put Karen on the hot tamale train. Ryan & Eleanor performed a Sonya Tayeh-choreographed jazz. The dance was fine, but the intro clip where Ryan told us how masculine he was didn't make him very likable. Nigel said that he had no idea what Sonya wanted them to do, since Sonya's style is so variable, but that the two dancers seemed to do a good job. Brandon & Pauline performed a Jason Gilkison-choregraphed smooth waltz. Brandon was really classy about coming in at the last minute, and they seemed to be a great pairing with great chemistry. However, Nigel thought they were "not strong enough" and seemed like a "prom couple." Legacy & Kathryn performed a Dave Scott-choreographed "prehistoric" hip-hop. Adam praised the silly, jumpy dance for its "sense of humor," and Mary said "Yabba-dabba-dooooooo!," because she is a shameless grandstander like that. Nathan & Mollee performed a Doriana Sanchez-choreographed disco. As per usual with Doriana's dances, it seemed sloppy and rushed, but how about that nifty move where Mollee was swinging from Nathan's neck? Adam said that despite the "very sexy" lifts "none of it seemed that dirty, somehow." Who Went Home There is no voting or elimination show tonight because of baseball playoffs, so judges decided who's going home. Nigel said that eliminations were determined by "everything that we know of [dancers]" from the beginning of the competition, not just tonight's dancing. The four dancers in danger were Ariana, Brandon, Paulina and Russell. Ariana went home for the girls, and Brandon (who just arrived a day ago) went home for the guys. Nigel said that usually he would be out of So You Think You Can Dance for the rest of time, but that he was going to ask Fox to make a special exception for Brandon so he could come back next season and get a real shot. Brandon said, "If I can come back, I'll definitely come back." If you were in charge, would you have sent Brandon and Ariana home tonight? And what were your favorite performances of the evening? Any front runners yet?

Ronnie's first blog. http://www.foxesonidol.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=4&article=article1115005.art&page=1I most likely know what you are thinking as you are beginning to read this article. You are most likely thinking to yourself, “Why is Ronnie from Big Brother 11 writing an article about So You Think You Can Dance?” The answer to this question may actually shock you. Well, it might not if you were one of the BB fans who watched the live feeds. Prior to my existence as the quintessential computer and video game geek, I danced. That is right, I danced and it wasn’t grinding my overly pasty white booty to whatever music was playing on my mp3 player. I actually am a trained dancer in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern. While it is true that I have gained weight since those days, once upon a time I used to be a very skilled performer. I have always been a “connoisseur” of reality TV and I have to admit that once I first heard that there was going to be a show called So You Think You Can Dance, my heart began to do barrel turns and double wings inside my chest. I have always loved dance and the thought of there being a show that would allow me to combine my incredible obsession of reality TV with the art of dancing was almost too much for me to handle. Please understand that throughout the duration of this article I will be making statements on how I feel the dancers are currently ranked based on my own personal opinions. I am not trying to say that I am by any means an expert such as Nigel, Mary, Adam, Mia (Mia…. we will miss you on the show), or any of the other amazing choreographers. That having been said, let’s get down to the first article. Wow… that felt like a nomination speech all over again!! As anyone who has watched the show knows, the dancers begin off paired as couples. The pairing has presumable always been random, although I personally have had my doubts at times. When they get narrowed down to a top ten, the dancers usually change to a format where they have a new partner for their dances each week. That dancer is chosen by random draw from a hat. Until the show reaches that point, I will be ranking them by how I felt they did the prior week and making a pseudo prediction on what might possibly be coming down the pipelines in the coming week’s performance. I realize this will most likely result in some errors, or maybe several errors… but it’s fun none the less. So… last week we were treated to an episode that was a little different than what I expected. We saw the top 20 perform and there would be the first eliminations… in the same episode! What?! We then got sucker punched with the news that Billy Bell had left the competition due to illness. I really had high hopes for him, so this news really saddened me. On the tail end of that shocker we were also told that Noelle had to sit out this round of competition due to an injury from rehearsal. What is going on here? The season has just begun and already we have two people who were sick and/or injured. To briefly recap what happened, the judges made the sole decisions on which girl and which guy would be eliminated from the competition. I was scared when I first heard that was the plan. The judges have been notorious for eliminating people that are skilled dancers in exchange for some of the more “entertaining” contestants. It came down to the bottom two guys being Russell and Brandon (he is the new hip hop dancer who replaced Billy Bell) and Brandon was eliminated. I personally agreed with this decision. He really did not do anything in his solo. He kind of just went around the stage instead of doing an actual dance solo. The bottom two girls were Pauline and Ariana. The judges chose to eliminate Ariana. This was one of those decisions I just mentioned. Ariana had a great solo. She actually had a complete performance. Her performance had passion, technique, and was dynamic. Pauline simply ran around the stage and threw dancing skills. I didn’t notice any emotion whatsoever in her solo. The judges even admitted in their adjudication that Ariana was being eliminated because of her lack of personality. Oh well… with those two dancers being eliminated that means we already have a brand new couple in the competition. So let’s look at the rankings how I see them. 1st – Nathan and Mollee What is there to say about this pairing that hasn’t already been said? Nathan has amazing technique and he also a lot of fun. Mollee has so much personality that you can’t help but like her. Last week they did an amazing disco number that knocked my socks off. There were some mistakes, but forgivable ones. It is for all of these reasons that I feel they have earned the top spot right now. They give 100% in rehearsals and seem to have a pretty big fan base so far, so I do not think they will be going home any time soon. 2nd – Bianca and Victor OK, I have to admit something here. I personally am pulling for this duo. I am mainly a tapper myself and for this reason I feel for the tappers more than the others. I can’t help it. However, this duo is here because both of them have a perfect marriage of personality and technique. I only placed them second to Nathan and Mollee because they seem to have a little bit smaller fan base. They were amazing in the Travis Wall contemporary routine and I think the both of them will be around for the long haul. 3rd – Ryan and Ellenore Ryan is a ballroom dancer and one half of the married couple we’ve been treated to this season. Ellenore is an incredibly gifted dancer as well. Last week they danced to a Sonja contemporary jazz routine. I have to say right now I am torn on Sonja. She is incredibly talented, but I don’t necessarily agree with her experimental choreography on the show. Many audience members, who are the voters, could be turned off by the choreography. This hurts the contestants who randomly get assigned her choreography. I hope this doesn’t happen to any of the dancers. Thankfully, though, this wasn’t an issue in this episode since the judges made the choices. I think again that these two should be safe for a while as long as they don’t tank in their choreography. They both got rather decent air time in the intro episodes so they should have a good fan base. 4th – Ashleigh and Jakob Ashleigh is the other half of the married duo and Jakob is a contemporary dancer. This is the point in the pairings where I started to feel that some of the contestants didn’t get an ideal pairing. Jakob is incredibly talented and Ashleigh is as well, but I do not feel that this is a dance pair made in heaven. I can’t help but feel that Jakob will make it further in the competition than Ashleigh will. I think that once they are in the bottom three couples, the time will come when we see Ashleigh eliminated and Jakob with a new partner. 5th – Kathryn and Legacy Legacy is the very first b-boy to get into the top 20 on SYTYCD and Kathryn is a contemporary dancer. They did a great hip hop routine last week that I actually enjoyed. Anyone who has ever talked to me about SYTYCD knows that I am not usually a fan of the hip hop routines. I think that unless they start really doing horribly in their choreography these two should be set for the top 10. Legacy got a lot of air time in the audition episodes and seems to have a lot of fans. Those fans should keep Kathryn safe by proxy. 6th – Channing and Phillip Phillip is the second of the three tap dancers that got into the top 20 this season. Channing is yet another contemporary dancer. They did not do too well in my opinion this last week. They danced a jive and they seemed like they had no chemistry whatsoever. They also seemed like they were running out of energy halfway through their routine. If they do not manage to turn their bad luck around next week this couple could very well be on the chopping block. 7th – Russell and Noelle Russell is the very first crumper to make it onto SYTYCD. Which I have to interject here… what is it with the name Russell and reality TV all of a sudden? There are two Russells on Survivor: Samoa, this Russell, plus Russell from my season of Big Brother. I think Russell did very well this past week considering that Noelle was injured and he danced with the choreographer on the show. I merely placed Russell here because, as I stated at the beginning of the article, I am judging them by couples. Nigel stated in the episode that if Noelle was not cleared by the doctors to dance on next week’s episode, then she would have to be eliminated. It is for this reason and this reason alone I placed them so far down on the list. If Noelle is cleared by the doctors and the duo dances together, I expect them to rocket somewhere near the top. 8th – Peter and Pauline Peter is the third and final tap dancer this season. Pauline is a jazz dancer. I do not think this couple will get along at all. Pauline should have gone home instead of Ariana, but the judges picked Pauline because of her personality. During Pauline and Brandon’s waltz, Pauline had horrible hands. She did not finish her movements and they lacked that extra little piece of polishing that makes the routine really shine. I think that Pauline will be Peter’s undoing unless she learns to partner better. 9th – Karen and Kevin Karen and Kevin are our final couple. Karen is a ballroom dancer from Venezuela and Kevin is a hip hop dancer. This was not a difficult decision to choose to rank them last. This is not a statement on their technique. I made this decision because, like I said, I love this show. I have a great memory and this show is based on votes. After the show was finished last week, this couple was the only couple that I could not remember their names or what dance they performed. I am thinking there is a strong possibility that unless they pick up their game a lot of people in America might forget them as well, which will land them in the bottom three couples. So those are the rankings as I see them right now. I am sure after I see them perform for the second time this week I will have a much better grasp on which couples actually are bad couples and which ones simply had a bad week.

I'm watching this show. I don't have any favorites right now. I'm still trying to remember names. So, after baseball is over, fans will get to vote on who gets eliminated? I don't like how they perform and are eliminated the same night.
