Season 2 starts tonight. Did Peggy keep her baby? Is she gonna tell Pete?

Can't wait!

I just discovered this show via the on demand channel & watched the entire first season in 2 days. It is so unusual and I love looking back at 1960.( Unfortunately I am old enough to remember it. )

So I'm with you and am really looking forward to season 2.

I watched season 1 and 2 in 5 days lol.
I think one of my favorite scenes was when Betty and a very pregnant Francine are smoking and Betty's daughter runs into the kitchen with a dry cleaning bag over her head and Betty is just worried about her clothes that were in the bag!

That show is so 1960's it gives me the creeps sometimes. Pregnant women smoking and drinking, patient and doctor smoking in the doctor's office, Don talking on the phone with his wife's psychiatrist and discussing her conversations, the heavy drinking at the office, bottles in the desks, they even have a bar and of course women being regarded as sex objects and airheads. The men have virtually no contact with their children, and the kiddies are to be seen and not heard. I have never been one that looks back and wishes for the 'good old days.'

Having said that, I think the show is a masterpiece, it is true to its time, and the writing and acting are superb.

The last post was over 6 months ago. let's give it a shot anyway.
Calling all Mad Men Fans !

Come out, come out, wherever you are!
I was born in 54' , figure I am the exact age of Don's daughter. I remember this world. But am shocked at how much things have changed in my lifetime. Knew, but didn't realize how much. if that makes sense.

Thank Goodness Granny, about to decide I was the only one watching.
How are you liking this season.
I don't know that I like all the stuff goin on with having the Brittish company buy out. It just seems like the office is not as energetic as before.

mim, I don't know for sure where they are taking us this year, but I must agree with you and the British buyout.....the dang pennypinching beancounters and more formal attitude. Although, it was pretty exciting when the new dude got his foot run over with the lawn mower....actually that kind of shocked me.

yeah, it shocked me. Have you noticed that more and more it is Don that is the good guy. He is the only one that seems to be calling them on their bad attitude, the penny penching and letting them know they bought them because of the creativilty and then coming in and trying to distroy the very things that made them successful.

Did anyone see this weeks show. What did you think about Don getting drugged and beat up and robbed, I did not see that coming.

Also why has he gotten such a dislike for Roger all of a sudden. He went along with Roger and now he can't even stand to be in same room with him.
I know all that Roger has done, but Don has too for years.
Does anyone have idea of what happened?

Mappy,
thanks for posting that link. I can't watch any video on my pc, but because you posted that I was watching to catch it on reg. tv and sure enough one of the entertainment news programs played it and I saw it.
it was great,

I am still looking for the other people that watch Mad Men, I don't know of anyone in my "real life" who watch it and there are not a lot on here who say they do.
But I read a lot about it, people talk about it in mag. etc and it gets so many awards,
so where are all the masses that watch it?

This show is one of my favorite shows of all time. I can watch it over and over again and not tire. It is one of the shows where the more you watch it the more you "get it"

Betty Draper is my favorite character on MM. I am loving her standing up for herself. She is so full of surprises. This seasons we have learned that she majored in Anthropology and can speak fluent Italian. Who would have thought the little Princess was that sophisticated?

I like Peggy too but DUCK? Seriously, Duck? This drunk let his dog wondered out into the NYC night. Cold unfeeling SOB.

Dan drives me BANANAS.

yes, that thing where Duck let his dog lose on cold nyc street, really ticked me. now peggy slept with him, geez. never saw that coming.

this last week where Don slept with a school teacher of his daughter, ticked me off too. I mean her got up left his sleeping wife at home and now starts up with his daughter's teacher. At least befor he kept that part of his extra ciricular(sp) seperate from home. I like Betty too, but don't like that she keeps her daughter at such arms length. She just doesn't show enough warmth to her kids, that bothers me.

Wow, did anyone else watch the show last night?
They ended it perfect. A new agency with the best characters. Can see some great story lines coming.
And Don and Betty as a divorced couple, and all the issues that go with that. How perfect.
They have really set this up to capture all the changes of the 60's,
This has to be one of the best written shows of all time.

I can't wait for next season, just hate there is so much time between the seasons. I wonder if they will pick up where we left off or skip years and fast forward again.
