PostSubject: Favorite Horror flicks?   October 13th 2009, 4:27 pm

I have been in the mood for a good horror flick. I like the suspense kind.. like Silence of the Lambs...not crazy about slasher movies unless the are really well done. I liked Blair Witch ... I can't remember the really good ones. I watched the Killing Room last week, that was kind of intense but dragged at bit.... Psychological thrillers and suspense. Any advice?

The Exorcist.

(When I took my girlfriend to a Drive-In to see it, I had to hide my face so she wouldn't see me crying)

Suspense ..... along with "Silence of the Lambs", I also liked "Kiss the Girls", "Along Came a Spider" and "Seven".
I think "Alien" is my favourite horror movie but I also liked "The Shining", "Jaws" and "Carrie".
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" had me hiding my face in my boyfriend's armpit. Lol

I read at one showing 34 people (adults) walked out of the theater too scared to watch the rest of the movie. Sounds awesome.

You wouldn't watch Amityville Horror if you knew what happened to me.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! The demons will follow you too. J/K.

Hmmm...I need to shorten this tale of spookiness. My eldest sister was packing her U-haul (small trailer that hooks to your bumper) for her second year of college and I was helping. JUST US TWO. At the time, Amityville Horror was a very popular paperback. My sister asked me if I could finish the book quickly so she could read it. Everything was packed nicely and while sis was in the house doing a once over for forgotten things I placed the paperback in the top drawer of a small dresser. I locked up the U-haul and off we went to Tallahassee.

Get this. I was the last person to pack anything in the small trailer and the first to open it. My sister went to unlock her apartment door and I opened the trailer to get the book and give it to her. She was dying to read the book so I thought it would be a nice gesture to hand it to her when she started to unpack. I opened the drawer and the book was gone. I am not kidding. I told my sister what happened and we both searched amongst her things as we unpacked and NEVER found the book. I even took apart the dresser and nothing was there.

I'm serious, this really happened and from that day I've been unable to watch the movie. scared

That's pretty creepy. I remember waking up at 3:15 a.m. after seeing that movie (remember James Brolin kept waking up at 3:15 a.m.). Anyway I was so scared I slept on the floor of my parents room!

Moody, Paranormal is getting crazy reviews! I read this and the quotes from film-goers and I want to see it but don't want to see it LOL Holy freakfest! Link for one of the trailers...

http://video.aol.com/aolvideo/Moviefone/paranormal-activity-trailer-no-1/41361452001

This is just one paragraph:

Unlike today's major horror franchises, the real element of fear here is inspired not by flesh-and-bone bad guys, monsters or threat of bodily harm -- it's the fear of the unknown, the unseen. It's the things that go bump late at night while you clutch your partner in bed or bolt upright from a dead sleep because you're convinced there's a shadowy figure standing at the foot of your bed. Some of the moments in the film that elicit the loudest screams in the theater are the quietest on screen.

One review..... (Sound's AWESOME!)

Thanks to a wildly successful (and highly unorthodox) marketing campaign and near universal acclaim, horror flick 'Paranormal Activity' is probably the hottest ticket in your town. The low-budget film -- it cost a mere $11,000 for a seven-day shoot -- was first released only in college towns, then slowly rolled out to additional markets based on an online audience demand campaign. Last weekend 'Paranormal' took in an astounding $49,379 per screen, earning $7.9 million for the weekend (compare that with the massively marketed 'Couples Retreat,' which cost Universal $60 million to make and earned $34.3 mil on 3,000 screens, making a less impressive $11,429 per screen).

Based on the success so far, Paramount has decided to take 'Paranormal' nationwide this weekend. So, should you believe the hype? Well, it's been haunting me ever since I saw it a week ago -- I'm still sleeping with all the lights on (and forcing my poor husband to escort me into the basement to do laundry), so I'm going to have to answer that question with a big YES. This is the rare scary movie that actually gets under your skin, and stays there long after the theater lights come up. And it's quite simply the most effective haunted-house movie I've ever seen.

"For those who haven't seen the film, I can assure you that you have no idea what's in store. I am not easily frightened, and I have never been scared by a movie to the point of not being able to sleep ... After watching 'Paranormal Activity' I did not fall asleep until 5am. In my opinion, it was THAT scary. I am still a bit shaken, and I left the theater practically in tears
