Oh that happened to my next door neighbor. She had a little shitzu and let it out to go to the bathroom in her backyard. She was standing outside with her. Our yards back up to a creek and a coyote ran out and grabbed the dog and ran off into the woods. It wasn't even dark out yet. And, it was just traumatic for her. They found the dogs remains the next day. Horrible.

When I was eleven and my dad was stationed in the Philippines my family suffered such a loss except...our cat was taken by the native Filipinos and used for food. We found his remains behind the perimeter fence down a hill. To this day the song, "Everything I own" reminds me of our adorable cat.

You take the Xanax and I'll take my Clonazepam. Sad
