Glad you had a good time ndd! Ok, truth time, I DID go to a Star Trek convention about 20 years ago. What can I say? I loved Mr. Spock! And boy, he smelled really really good! Embarassed

Thanks for that great report ndd. You did a fantastic job of making us all feel like we were right there. You made me laugh! Thanks for that in addition to the information.

It sounds like both Memphis and Keesha were very 'real'.

Memphis was one of my favorites. It was a real treat to hear about him. I think he is a sweatheart.

I really enjoyed your report, ndd. It was fun to read a report, written by a real fan about two real people, who just happened to appear on Big Brother. It's nice to hear Memphis isn't a player. That matches up with my impression of him from the show.

There is nothing to be ashamed about dear, Flower! I attended a few conventions and I love love love Spock/Leonard Nimoy. George Takei was very rude but the best was Scotty! That sweet dirty ole man made me sit on his lap for our picture. I was in my early twenties. I'm not a Trekkie, I just enjoyed the atmosphere of camaraderie and meeting the actors.

Well think about it. He has no emotions and can only do his best to get the job done. And he would get the job done if you know what I mean.

Aha! If that was the Dallas Convention in 1980 something, must have been YOU I saw on Scotty's lap!

Unfortunately no, I was living in Florida at the time. So that means Scotty was a very fickle man and had lots of young girls sit on his lap. Hmm........LOL.

He's just the type... silent, mysterious, 'unemotional' LOL I've loved anything Trek since the original series. There were some really good novels written back in the 70's and 80's. My neighbor was diehard Trek and introduced me to these books. So much fun... good times back then LOL

Hey Mappy, do you remember a Sci Fi book that started with a "Y" and was very romantic? I don't know who it was written by and it was such a long time ago that I read it. I think the title was something like Yango, but I'm not sure. It all just popped in my head after reading your post. I sure would like to read that book again. Very Happy

It finally came to me. This is what I found at Wiki:

Yargo is a science fiction romance novel by Jacqueline Susann. The plot concerns a woman, Janet, who is not looking forward to getting married. A handsome alien, the title character, takes her on a trip to Mars, Venus and a few other planets including the planet "Yargo". In Yargo, Janet sees the God of Yargo and his People, who is an epitome of all godly things. The story revolves around Jane and the God of Yargo, their love and their passion for peace in this world and how finally they fall in love with each other.

The novel was published after the author's death by Bantam Books in 1979.

Never read it, Frannie. I read Valley of the Dolls and maybe another. I'll have to look into this. I'm guessing it will be tame by today's standards. Remember how VOTD was scandalous?! LOL

Oooh, ooh, I was naughty. I started reading my mom's books when I was about age 12. After she read Once is Not Enough by Jacqueline Susann, I picked it up and read it as well. Back in 1973 when I was 12 that was pretty shocking stuff for me. afraid Twisted Evil

I love the theme song to VOTD, by Dionne Warwick. Sorry but this was the only one I could find on youtube and the quality is horrible:

Me, too. So sorry ndd. I was looking for the last chop that Snow made with Nat and I couldn't find it anywhere in her thread LOL

ndd, if you think of anything else about your adventure, please share with us. I have random things pop into my mind a week later. I still cannot believe you heard Keesha's laugh! I miss hearing it.

OMG Frances - I did the same. My mom used to hide her racy (for the times) books underneath her bed where she thought I wouldn't find them. I did and read every single one of them, lol! Twisted Evil
