| Originally posted by: FrancesI used a recipe the other day that turned out so delicious I was in shock: Easy Pot Roast • 1 - 3 to 5 pound beef pot roast • 1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix • 1 packet Italian Dressing Mix • 1 packet Brown Gravy Mix • 1 can of Campbell’s beef broth • 1/2 cup water Place the roast (also 6 peeled cut potatoes, raw baby carrots and half a sliced onion) in your crock pot. Mix all other ingredients together and pour over pot roast. Cook on low setting for 8 hours. Yield - 8 to 10 servings I first thought this recipe was a joke but I'm a believer now. The meat was so tender it was falling apart and the flavor of the potatoes and carrots was yummy. I'm ashamed to admit that I ate so quickly I looked like a wild animal. _________________ MODERATOR Counting down the days till our next trip . . . |

| Does anyone know if I brown the roast before I put it in the crock pot? _________________ Super Duper Mod

| inky!!! Missed you girl. I think it's always best to brown meat first (it develops flavour) but many people don't, so I guess it's personal choice. _________________ In combat or competition, where the stress levels are highest, you do not rise to the occasion… you sink to the level of your training.

| I am going to try this again today. Last time, I cooked it on high for part of the day to cut down a couple hours of cooking time and the meat was kind of dry. I couldn't figure out if the meat was under cooked or over cooked. It was ok, but not falling apart. _________________ Super Duper Mod

| Frances, you would probably be interested to know that I come back to this thread once a month to get this recipe. You would think I would have it memorized by now. I am getting better at it. Getting moister every time. lol _________________ Super Duper Mod
