I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving this weekend and we all like this apple/orange/cranberry sauce.
Apple Cranberry SauceThis chunky fruit sauce has a subtle orange flavour that complements turkey but suits roast chicken, duck, goose or pork as well.
Ingredients:
2 apples (such as Golden Delicious)
1 cup granulated sugar (The original recipe calls for this amount but I use a sugar substitute and about half the amount - we like it tart)
1 tsp grated orange rind (zest of one orange)
1 cup orange juice
1 pkg fresh cranberries
Pinch salt
Preparation:
Peel and core apples; cut each into 12 wedges. In saucepan, bring sugar, orange rind and juice to boil. Add apples, cranberries and salt.
Reduce heat and simmer until thick enough to mound on spoon, about 30 minutes.
