| Anybody know of a good book for a boy this age? My son is reading and enjoying the Twighlight Series books, but the books for school book reports can't have been a movie. Also, am trying to find a good website for book reviews for teens. Thank you. _________________ Super Duper Mod

| Does he like science fiction? Christopher Paolini's books are great. He has a triology about a young man and his dragon. The books are called "Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr". Christopher began writing the first book when he was fifteen and became a New York Times bestseller at nineteen. Edited to add: There is also a set of books by Susan Cooper called "The Dark Is Rising" Sequence....consists of a total of 5 books. Excellent, excellent!! _________________ We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves. Lynn Hall, Where Have All the Tigers Gone?, 1989

| Thanks Granny, I don't think he is a science fiction type. He is more into stories about real life teens. I am embarrassed to say that the book he asked for me to pick up at the Library was called "Cut" about a girl who is hospitalized for self mutilation and her journey back to mental health. Like I said before he likes Twighlight, (they all seem to don't they). Is the Susan Cooper series science fiction? He did like Harry Potter, that is kind of science fiction, sort of... isn't it? _________________ Super Duper Mod

| Yes, it is the same type of book as Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia.....good vs. evil. My son wouldn't read until he read one of the "Dark Is Rising" books and the rest is history. Yes, these books have been around a long time and won many awards. The did make a movie out of one. The movie was called "The Seeker". It was a very good movie. _________________ We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves. Lynn Hall, Where Have All the Tigers Gone?, 1989

They sound good, but put them on the list for next time we go to the library. Thanks Granny. _________________ Super Duper Mod

| Go to www.audible.comThey have the ability to search for books by age. Now, I admit, these are audio books, but their recommendations are terrific. Then you can go to Amazon or Borders or your preference to actually purchase the book you want. You can also go to www.bookadventure.org.This site gives you the opportunity to register your child and search for books by grade level. After they finish the book, they can go online and there is a short test on the book. If they pass the test they can earn points. When they have enough points they can actually collect a reward. GREAT SITE! (Even for Annabelle.) _________________ ModeratorNo matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. But, BB season is the best! |

| Thanks Joan. Anabel is at the age where she WANTS to read chapter books, but she gets overwhelmed by them, and I am constantly searching for books for her that are chapter books that have lots of pictures! LOL We went to the library yesterday, and I found a series called "Annabel the Actress" and she actually is enjoying it very much. She said that the girl is exactly like her. Cute. I love my girl. _________________ Super Duper Mod
