Hummm interesting.
What I thought I could do is make the tarts and instead of putting in a 2 or 3 % fragrance level which is what is needed to make sure the soap still lathers well, is to up the level to 10-15%. It wouldn't be great for washing ( although you could)... but it would make the aroma more intense.
Ah ha! I will have to experiment in my own home!! |

I have a green melon that I made. I could order some "cucumber" - There is no such thing as either of those scents in nature... I mean they don't extract the plant oils from them, but they make a nice chemical reproduction. I have tons of "food" aromas. I usually don't do the spicy stuff in summer. Thanks for the ideas!!

OK... Now that I'm on summer break, I'm "crafting" up a storm. Earlier in this thread we were talking about home scenting. I have ordered some raw materials to make aroma beads. These are pretty cool. You can leave them in the bag like a sachet, put them in a glass bowl for potpourri, suck them up in your vacuum cleaner bag.. and tons of stuff. It will take a week or ten days to make them.. So I need to decide what kinds of scents. Holiday stuff is easy... I'll do spicy, apple, grannies kitchen type stuff ( lol - for Kimmie) Summer time???... citrus cilantro, like my summer soap? Hawaiian tropic scents? I guess light and fresh.

Hey.. no red stars when I came on... so I'll post. I'm starting to make the aroma beads... It's going to be fun! I'm going to do melon, cucumber, orange blossom, sea breeze ( kind of a manly fragrance) blue lagoon ( fresh- tropical berry-like) and maybe green tea, but green tea is expensive so LOL - I might save that for the soap. The beads take a lot more "juice" than the soap does. OH and a really strong one "chocolate candy" It will be chocolate, honey, almond, vanilla. ( If I put coconut in it I could call it almond joy ...lol but I'm not ) I'll be giving away some later with my soaps... stay tuned.

Nancy, my fave is cucumber/melon in a candle but my close second fave is linen. As far as soap goes I'm a real big cocoa butter kinda gal but can't use it all the time since it messes with my perfume. Men go NUTS for this scent and I recently found out why. Cocoa butter smell reminds them of a stripper/strip joint (LMAO!) and they don't even know it. For every day I use caress glowing touch and I don't even know what that smells like to be honest. I use it because it makes my skin glow just a little and it doesn't interfere with my perfume. I'd love to see a baby powder scented soap. I think you would REALLY have something unique if you could figure out how they make the glowing stuff work in any of your soaps. I *think* it's microfine fish scales to be honest but maybe they've figured out a way to make the glow stuff artificially? I don't mind fish scales in my soaps or makeup. I figure that if I eat it I can wear it's scales LOL!

On a serious note, I had posted that they all sounded wonderful! I'm mostly a shower person but the lure of those fragrances is strong. I'll green tea in the shower and soak in chocolate, cucumber, melon, etc. lol

I can put mica powder in the soap..much better than fish scales. In fact I do put it in some of them. I use gold and an antique white. Mica is the same stuff they put in blush and mineral makeup. The thing is, it's a delicate balance in soap. The more stuff you put in, the less bubbles and cleaning action. Also there is the safety concern. Too much of even natural ingredients can cause irritation. That's what I like about the beads... I can make them stronger. We'll see. I'll be experimenting with some stuff.
